The Mechanical Chain Base R (version B) is a base, complete with background, made up of parts that can be combined as desired to create the interior of a hangar for scale models or action figures.
It's perfect for gunpla models (1/144 scale, 1/100 scale and Super Deformed), action figures from the Robot Spirits/Robot Damashii series, Frame Arms and Frame Arms Girl models, Megami Device models, etc.
It's modular: the parts can be attached both to other bases of the same type and to the Mechanical Chain Base R (version A), sold separately, to get a larger hangar.
They also feature many 3mm diameter connection peg-holes compatible with add-ons from the HG model line and accessories from the the Megami Device, M.S.G, Frame Arms and Frame Arms Girl series.
In addition to 2x floor parts and 2x wall parts, there are many other items, including 3x large containers, 3x medium crates, 2x small crates, projectors (with and without pole), forklift truck and 3x different pairs of launching "catapults" (like those of Gundam!) suitable for mecha feet of large, medium and small size.
The last 3 images show this set along with other bases, models and add-ons: those items are sold separately!
The parts of this base/hangar resume the ones that Kotobukiya released in the past with the Mechanical Chain Base 004-006 sets. They're all part of the the M.S.G ("Modeling Support Goods") product line.
Assembly is required, but there's no need for glue.
Parts are made of ABS plastic and are gray, but they can also be painted and/or customized using suitable paints and your favorite coloring techniques: Gundam Markers, brushes, spray cans or airbrush.
This is a perfect base to
- exhibit scale models and action figures,
- quickly build dioramas with a technological setting,
- be used as a photographic set to take pictures of your own mechas.
When assembled as in the first image, it's about 33 cm tall.
By connecting several bases together, you can get a hangar that's also suitable for large models, including 1/60 scale gunplas.
